What is photography?

What is the rule of photography?
Someone did ask me to teach them about photography skill, some even ask me to conduct a class to teach their people.Unfortunately, all those request has been rejected.
Sorry about that guys. It is not because I'm selfish, but I has really no idea what to teach. Photography NOT suppose to has theory or so call golden rule.
I always believe photography has only one rule, which is 'NO RULE'. Just shoot whatever you think is nice, take from the angle wherever you think is perfect.  Just.... don't set any rule, never ever limit you self in photography, just don't.

What is photography all about?
Maybe some people misunderstand what is photography all about. Photography is not about taking the best angle of an object.  Photography is just like a movie, it is all about storytelling. Video take at least a few minutes to tell a story, but a photo is able to tell a story within a single frame. If you manage to tell the story from a photo, then it is a great photo.

What about photo editing?
As I said, photography has no rule, no limit. Do whatever photo editing you want, as long as it manage to deliver the emotion and the message of the story. Some said photo editing destroy the quality of photography, photography not suppose to has any editing. To me, this mindset is from dinosaur age. Hey C'mon, this is digital world! You are holding a DSLR, not SLR. The D stand for Digital. Just utilize the the D when you are in a D world. Again, don't ever limit yourself.

How to tell it is HTML5?

How can you tell whether a website is build with HTML5 or not?

Simple, you don't have to check the code at all.
All you need to do is view the page in Internet Explorer.
Does it working fine? No?
Then it is HTML5.

This is the reason I always think that Internet Explorer really useful and powerful browser to download Chrome and Firefox.

Flickr

Flickr, one of the best website to me in some years ago.
It has all the great feature that people will definitely love it, especially photographers.
We are able to upload photos albums, tagging, comments, add friends, follow groups, explore greatest photos, favorite photos, share photos and a lot more.

It was one of my favorite website before the age of social media,
Is quite hard to accept the fact that the era of Flickr is over after Google+(or maybe facebook) is live.
but why? Why it is only a 'was'?
Did you notice that almost all the feature listed above are familiar in the world of social media?
Facebook has all the feature above except explore greatest photos.
Google+ has all of them.
and all of these feature are provided free to every user in social media site which Flickr doesn't.

That's ashamed! Come on Flickr! What the hell are you doing?
Why are you working so hard on integration rather than innovation all these years?
Why can't you just adjust the yearly fee to be more cheaper(or free) to attract ex-flickr back to the site again and make it more interesting again?I not sure does new CEO of yahoo means new hope to Flickr, I hope it is.
And I hope this site helps, http://dearmarissamayer.com/

A Tiny, Budget, DIY And Messy Studio

Has just finish setup a very budget and space limited studio in my house.
Should say, in my uncle's room (while he is still in Singapore).
Very sad that my house is totally out of space, this is the only space I can find for a studio setup.
Ok, let see how I done that.

Purchased an octa umbrella softbox from Shashinki which only required a flashgun in it. And light stand as well.
That's all I bought. Question is, how can I hold the umbrella on the stand. Hmm...WHAT? Damn!! Why I never thought of that?? Great, It going to be fun now, an umbrella, a stand, no umbrella holder.
Finally I manage to get it done. My dad build one for me, a totally DIY holder. Dad, I really appreciate that.
Next, a DIY reflector on the right (which I use it in my car to reflect from sunlight).
That's it!!
Let's see the output.

Wasn't too bad, right?
I will looking forward to build a better studio next time. Damn, this is too limited in space!!
